a bottle $360.00

Spicy, Lively Shiraz

A snazzy little Shiraz, with a complex mingling of peppery spice and fruit - just made for sharing with friends, family, and a fine meal or two. The previous vintage netted praise and 94 points from James Halliday and this one is set to impress Shiraz fans just as highly.

The Bottom Line

  • Hallmark McLaren Vale Shiraz
  • 94 Points - Tony Keys
  • 95 Points - James Halliday
  • Previous Vintage: 94 Points - James Halliday
  • 5 Star Halliday Winery

Too young

I am happy with most of my selections but not this one. Very dry on the palate and burns the stomach. No flavour, no fruit, - just acidy tannins. Picked too early - brix challenged! Maybe Santa will send the vintner a refractometer for xmas! Seriously, no better right now than a $2.50 cleanskin out of Aldi which offers a more rounded quaffing flavour and friendlier on the palate. Big disappointment. Not even worth one star at 15 bucks a bottle . Will cellar and forget for a long time! I'd send back but can't be bothered.

bought at $15 a bottle

It does a have bit of acidic quality, but all of the distinct flavours are there with prominence. Had I paid more though, it would get less stars.

Mellow, yummy, want to drink more of this. Will keep a few for drinking later as the wine can only improve with time.

Out of the top palate

I don't know what 'Andrew' was drinking but certainly not this wine. One of the best. Can only assume he wants to keep it all for himself.
