Great people and true living legends, the name Lehmann has been a fixture in the region for as long as the incredible list of accolades the wines have won. A fifth generation Barossa boy, Peter Lehmann knew a thing or two about wines, vineyards and grapes, and perhaps a working knowledge of the pubs in the region too. Takes a lot of beer to make good wine, of course.
The Lehmann brand grew from a concern about the future of the grape growers of the Barossa. Peter saw a gap in the market for a contract winery and decided to bring local growers into the fold. The winery formally became Peter Lehmann Wines in 1982 and today (continuing the late Mr Lehmann's legacy) purchases grapes from around 185 local growers to create a broad range of premium wines.
