Get Into Frankland River Shiraz!

The "Great Southern" region in the lonely stretches of WA is a very big place. Like silly big. Biggest wine region in OZ by far.

Lots of room to hide some pretty rare and special lil’ discoveries. We lean towards the drinkable ones…

Taste this beautifully rounded Shiraz while you can: Seamless oak integration with flavours that go on and on and on and on...

The Bottom Line

  • Last 6-packs going NOW!
  • From the Frankland River region in WA
  • From 2011 a standout vintage down in that South-West corner
  • Rich, cellared (and further cellarable!) goodness

You'd be mad not to! Remember, every wine we sell comes with a 100% money-back guarantee: try two bottles out of the dozen, and if you're not in love with ‘em, get in touch and we'll refund the entire case and come pick up the remaining 10 bottles for free. No risk, no nasty surprises!

Tasting Notes

Vintage
2011
Regions
Western Australia
Varieties
Shiraz
Colour
Purple with black hues.
Nose
A rich mix of black cherries, liquorice infused with five spice cloves and anise. The oak barely discernible yet complementing.
Palate
Balanced and highly defined. Seamless oak integration; with a lush mid palate that grows into a beautiful round lingering shape. Think fresh cherries, raspberry and chocolate! A splash of air will release the untapped flavours lingering in the background.
Highlights
From the winery:

The Great Southern wine region is a distant land, unhindered by convention, spared of tourism frenzy, naïve of a frenetic pace of life and free to go along doing what it does brilliantly – in the fullness of time, when the moment is right.

This is winemaking country. Real country, where farmers are farmers, things take time and wines of ethereal beauty are to be made – just without the fuss.
Winery Information
A blessedly long season with little interruption from Mother Nature! An early start to spring led into a warm Christmas. January and February saw marginally hotter conditions but was balanced by a few key rainfall events allowing the vines to fully ripen the fruit. Cool nights ensured fruit vibrancy was maintained.

"Ok only...."

Vintage: 2011

A little disappointed with it. Maybe I'm just not a fan of WA shiraz. Not as smooth as the SA shiraz. Definitely not short of flavour. Very spicy I thought but more like a new wine than a 2011.
