Already Cellared! Complex Barossa Red Blend

It’s a winery that James Halliday said 2009 “out-Torbrecks Torbreck”. Good start, eh? This guy’s a more layered take on the classic GSM – a Grenache, Mataro, Cinsault, Shiraz, Carignan to be precise. Think swirling flavours and plenty of Barossa body!

The Bottom Line

  • Brilliant and perfumed Red blend
  • From a 5 Red Star Barossa Valley winery

It's a secret label. We don't name the brand in public, the winery can drop the price without worrying about damaging their good name, and you reap the benefits. Smiles all ‘round!

Tasting Notes

Vintage
2011
Regions
Barossa Valley
Varieties
Grenache
Colour
Brilliant bright garnet
Nose
Aromatics led by Grenache – high toned spiced red fruit – ripe raspberry, ripe cherry, smoky citrus oils and musk which hover above the more discreet notes of Indian ink, garrique, earthy woody spice and a warm vinosity. Aromatically fine, alluring, feminine.
Palate
Vibrant, youthful and fresh palate driven by a tangy herb infused line of red fruit – red currant, sour red plum, pomegranate and marjoram – that gains warmth and depth turning to tobacco, game, cedar and darker fruit to close. Pulpy, fleshy fruit is drawn long with plum skin acids and stony tannins.
