Marcel Pierre Epernay Brut Champagne NV (6 bottles) reviews

"Excellent Champers"

by
This Champangne is the real deal. It's from Epernay, it's full of "complex bubbles" and it's dry and light. Excellent value. A lot less expensive than the bigger brands of Champagne, but lacking none of the flavor. You cant go wrong, especially for a party.

An easy drinking Champagne when you don't want to break the bank.

"Budget price, not a budget taste."

Superior Brut from one of my two favorite Champagne regions, Epernay. Consistently good quality that manages to be more fruity than a normal Brut without it being overpowering. Citrus notes perfectly balanced with acidity. Fresh finish. I would be as happy to serve this at a function as I am drinking it in my courtyard on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

"great value french champagne"

This is the second time I have purchased this wine and continue to be impressed with its value for money in comparison with more expensive French and Australian alternatives. I am certain that in a blind tasting this wine would rate well above many higher priced competitors.

Not as good as the grandes marques, but you're not paying grande marque prices. An absolute steal when on offer at $20 a bottle.

Not the greatest quality Champagne available in Australia but certainly the lowest priced and therefore a great buy at $19.99 a bottle. Stock up for Christmas!

"Value for money Champagne"

This Champagne is great value for money having all the style, finesse and flavour of the more expensive Champagnes at a quarter to half the price. I would definitely recommend it.

Fresh and lovely with a fine bead and typical Champagne character, this is the best value I've had in a Champagne. Far too easy to drink!

"French or Tasmanian?"

by

This NV was fairly typical of what can be expected of French Fizz at the lower price bracket. Although worth the money. I think I'd prefer to spend just a little more and buy some Tasmanian vintage bubbles.

I like the lightness of the French and as an aperitif it was fine. certainly can't compete with any food with flavour. Best drunk alone.

All in all for 25 bucks you can't go wrong. But if you want to impress your girlfriend buy the 02 Radenti.

An excellent Champagne equal in taste to other brands costing at least twice as much.

What's in a name ? Marketing, that what one's paying for with other brands !

"excellent champagne at a quaffer price"

We met up with some friends from the USA and Canada in Sydney and took along 2 bottles of the Marcel Pierre for a welcome drink. They were impressed with the wine and were amazed when I told them the price. It is as good as many champagnes twice its price and better than some. I am sorry I only purchased 6 bottles

"Good value"

Wife prefers French sparkling wine from Champagne to local sparklers. This is a fruity style without much of the yeasty flavour one gets from time to time, a bit unsophisticated and not as complex as say Bollinger but hey half the price. It is very good value, has a very good creamy mouth-feel and is an excellent aperitif wine

Not bad Champagne. Not the best but Hey = $25 a bottle and its easily better than most (but not all) 40+ bottles of Bubbly from elsewhere. The French still have it with Champagne. Sweet but at the same time Toasty, though Bubbles don't last but it does go down fast. Recommended for a pre-dinner drink.

"Bargain"

by
This is not Bollinger. But it has some similar characterisitics. It is also one third the price of Bollinger. We have to make comparisons with other champagne, because that is the market it competes against. But to fault it merely because it is not Bollinger is to miss the point entirely.Good true to character champagne taste, a little bready, a little white floral, clean and dry. Very sharp needly little bead and a good mousse. The bottle disappeared between three of us within minutes of opening. For the price it is excellent value. And any but your most refined friends will not be able to taste the difference between this at $25 and Heidsieck Monopole at $50- both Epernay champagne and similar in style and taste.

"Good price but only very average Champagne"

by
I phoned to make more enquiry before ordering and was only able to get the general information (which is online) from the phone sales team. I wanted to know whether this Champagne was in the "true Champagne style" with a rich yeast flavour and brut style. While the champagne is soft and smooth on the palate, it is somewhat sweet in style and lacks bead, the fullness of body and depth that one would expect from a decent Champagne. Despite the good price I can not recommend it.

"Review of Marcel Pierre Champagne"

The wine is very dry and has delicate citrus flavors. The mousse is very fine and this gives the wine a very pleasant feel in the mouth. I think it is quite typical of champagnes from that area. However, I prefer wines with a little more flavor and perhaps more pinot noir in the blend.

Up there with the well known french champagnes. Would rather drink Moet but at this price it's pretty damn good for the price. Get it on a discount Friday it's even better

This champagne was so light, and the bubbles looked so lovely, straight up the middle of the glass...and the taste?....not too sweet..not too dry..yum!
