There are wines then there's bottled history.
This is a precious example of the latter.
This is a wine that was at the forefront of a new Australian wine industry, one that had moved away from the fortifieds of the post-war period and was reflecting a greater awareness of appreciation for great table wine styles.
This is a wine that helped drive the chardonnay boom and spread the word on Australian wine across the globe. It was a driving force in opening up the Adelaide Hills as an exceptional cool climate wine region and it encapsulated the vision and skill of Petaluma's founder Brian Croser.
It remains a wine that defines Australian chardonnay but importantly it's moved with the times as well and reflects a new, more streamlined approach to the variety.
