Premium Sauv from the heart of Marlborough...
We at WineMarket are well aware that there are hundreds of thousands of millions of Marlborough sauvignon blancs out there, or so it seems some days. But one thing we pride ourselves on, is that when the going gets tough, we taste our way through everything for these deals. Even if it means falling asleep on our desks.
So when we found this wine, sourced from great vineyards in the heart of premium winegrowing land in Marlborough, we knew we were onto a good thing.
It's a wine that shines bright and cool in the glass — has pretty aromas of tropical fruits and feels fresh and frisky in the mouth. We tried it up against about 20 other sauv blancs from Marlborough and it stuck out for being mouthwatering and crisp. Can't argue with that. And we didn't fall asleep at our desks.
And though we know that we've got a lot of favourites here at WineMarket, we've made this a bit special with the price. Snap up a deal, it's a one in a million. Or thereabouts…
- Multi award winning Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc producer with some serious trophy, gold medal and five-star ratings just for the winery.. and a whole extra jewellery box of bling for their wines too
- Stunning flavours and great length
- Sourced from premium vineyards in Marlborough, including the Awatere Valley.
- CURRENT VINTAGE of a previous AWARD-WINNING NZ SAUV!!

- Not your average Sauv.. you'd think wine show judges would be far too fancy to be sipping on sauv, much less awarding it medals galore, but this Marlborough Sauv's history speaks for itself.. everything you love to death from NZ sauv, but enough flavour and complexity to make you sit up and pay attention
- Whitecaps is an export label for a leading Marlborough house, whose domestic label Sauv Blanc 2011 has racked up a top 100, blue-gold & gold medal so far..

| Highlights |
The early ripening season was mild and dry. Favourable conditions over budburst lead to a good fruit set. A wetter December caused rapid growth and a need for careful canopy management. The later part of the season was both warm and dry, with cool nights to retain acid freshness and delicate flavours. The fruit was machine harvested in cool evening conditions, and pressed immediately with minimal skin contact. After settling, the clear juice was fermented at very low temperatures with selected yeast strains to preserve the inherent varietal flavours. The wine was
fermented entirely in stainless steel. |

Whitecaps is from one of Marlborough's biggest names in the NZ wine biz. Making their presence known overseas through export label Whitecaps, they produce some primo aromatic white wines (and are known to dabble in some pinot too). Started by husband & wife duo Greg and Sue White, who escaped the city-slicker lifestyle for a sea change to Marlborough. |
