Owls, even those owls that like to express their freedom from inhibition by nuding up now and then, are not really known as a threat to grapevines.
They're much keener on small rodents and the like. But if an owl were to ever acquire a taste for the fruit of the vine it could do a lot worse than setting up camp in McLaren Vale. Especially if it developed a taste for shiraz because in the sun-kissed, sea-breeze cooled vineyards of the Vale, the variety develops a range of flavours that would seduce any naked owl. Where else could you find hints of grilled meat, milk chocolate, ripe plums and exotically spice fruit cake all in one little berry? The answer is inside this bottle.
‘2010 was a great year in the Vale for Shiraz and I have captured all of it in this wine. The fruit came from 5 different vineyards, some Blewitt Springs fruit of the sands provides richness that is balanced by more elegant fruit from younger vines closer to the coast and the cool ocean breezes. Fermented in open fementers for 10 days and then matured for 14 months in am mix of 2 and 3 year old American Oak. This is a great drink if I say so myself!’ Randolph.

| Winery Information |
The Naked Owl label is produced by Randolph Bowen, known for his past life as one of the 'Flying Winemakers' as well as his stint at Foster's. While you might not see this label on the side of the bus, it's absolute value for money and a pretty good quaff too. |
