| Highlights |
The grapes from the vineyards of Saint-Chinian give all their characters to the wines. The AOC laws mean only these varieties are permitted to be planted: Grenache , Syrah , Mourvèdre , Carignan, Cinsault.
Grenache produces wines heady and warm, a nice red bronze. Syrah adds colour, structure, aromas reminiscent of pepper and violet. Mourvèdre, who loves the heat, gives the wine tannin and ageing ability which develops spicy aromas of undergrowth. The Carignan from old vines with low yields, gives Saint-Chinian its traditional character. Cinsault rounds out the wines, bringing fruit and elegance. |
