While much of the world seems hung up on single variety wines, we've always
been enthusiastic appreciators of great red blends.
The logic's pretty simple. Take one good thing, add another good thing and
chances are pretty good you'll make it better.
Layer grenache over mourvedre and shiraz and you build layers of complexity into the wine.
Blending cabernet with shiraz brings a bit of firmness to the latter's fleshy frame and likewise a good splash of merlot can fill out a bit of a
skinny patch in cabernet's middle palate.
You can even co-ferment a bit of viognier and shiraz and come up with a
plush and opulent red that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
Because grape varieties are a lot like intimacy. Perfectly good alone, even
better with company.
