Its spiritual home is Burgundy where the vineyards that cover the illustrious slope of the Cote D’Or make some of the world’s most desirable, and brain-meltingly expensive wines.
From Central Otago to the Yarra Valley, the Adelaide Hills to Oregon, winemakers agonise and obsess over the stuff in their quest to emulate the great burgundies that have inspired. When they get it right the results are spectacular, lifted, aromatic and defined by subtle power.
It’s the fact that getting it right is so hard that makes it so great when they do.
