You’ve got to love the Italians. No country on earth gets the idea of wine as way of life half as well as these guys.
Food and wine are intrinsically linked in Italy. Your average Italian is just as likely to punch the Pope in the head as he is to sit through lunch or dinner without a glass or two of something delicious.
That’s what makes Italian wines such great food wines, they’re made with the dining table in mind. High acid varieties like sangiovese to cut through richness and high tannin varieties like nebbiolo to tackle serious protein.
And if there’s a better wine for alfresco eating than pinot grigio we haven’t found it yet (and believe us when we say we've been doing plenty of 'research').
