Grant Burge – one of Australia's most innovative winemakers with an International reputation...
Super Barossa Shiraz
Full bodied, bold, ripe and with plenty of character. And that's just one of the winemakers. Meanwhile, the same thing could be said about this super Barossa Shiraz.
Grant Burge spends a lot of time hanging out with his growers — they're like a big circle of friends that just happen to grow some fantastic grapes. Burge likes to know where the best fruit is for each of his wines so he heads to the vineyards for inspiration. Plenty of Burge's wines come from a selection of sites, but he reckons that Miamba, a plot he planted himself, is a special enough place to make this single wine.
Over the years it's paid him back in full — 6 gold medals, 18 silvers and 24 bronze looks pretty good on his mantelpiece, but the great thing is how amazingly tasty it is above all the wine show souvenirs.
And yes, this is a full-bodied red. It shows big black berry fruit flavour, musk, sweet spice and a sprinkle of pepper. Flavour packed and generous it's perfect for that T-bone you've been eyeing off and it won't mind spending time with a hunk of cheddar.
The winemaker probably wouldn't mind hanging out with a hunk of cheddar too.

| Winery Information |
Grant Burge's roots dig even deeper into Barossa soil than the old vines that give rise to his top reds and his unparalleled understanding of the valley's special sites is what sets his wines apart from the pack. Located in the heart of the Barossa Valley in South Australia, Grant Burge is family owned (and proud of it), formed in 1988 by the fifth generation vigneron and winemaker. The Grant Burge family has been in the Barossa since 1855, and Burge continues on the family tradition whilst bringing his winemaking techniques into the 21st century. |
