| Highlights: The 2006 Cabernet was picked from the quiet village of Greenock, in the North West corner of the valley. With the vineyard nestled against the side of a hill, the vines get plenty of sun to ripen the berries. This block is great to pick or prune as it has a panoramic view of the Barossa Valley, sometimes you get so caught up in the view that you forget to work!
About the Wine, The 2006 Cabernet is an outstanding wine, and I would have to say it would be one of the best I have ever made. The cabernet really shows with a rich mulberry and minty nose, and the sharp purple colour adds to the ripe plum / green capsicum flavours that flow through the wine. Released: February 2009
Shiraz has always been the standout for the Barossa, the wine that everyone looks to first. If there was going to be a standout area to grow Shiraz, I believe that the area would be on the hills around Greenock. The Shiraz is grown on a heavy biscay block which gives the fruit a rich complex flavour. The block also only crops around the 1 tonne per acre, which is also from the heavy biscay soil.
About The Wine The Shiraz is drinking well, being a really mellow shiraz compared to the usual heavy, spicy Shiraz that is made around the Barossa. The wine has a rich plum and vanilla aroma and the palate is full of berries and fresh cocoa. This wine will mature and evolve the longer it is left in bottle, but will drink really well now as well.
