The New Vintage Burge Shiraz

Remember those days when a four-litre box of Chateau Cardboard was the best value money could buy and the bladder inside doubled as a handy pillow?

Well, those days may be well past, but Burge is BACK! Celebrate appropriately!...

The Bottom Line:

  • Top Selling Grant Burge Shiraz!!
  • The little brother of our all time top selling Batch 01 Barossa Shiraz
  • We've sold through numerous vintages of this wine and it keeps flying out the door - that's because it's great quality for a great price!
  • Richly flavoured, gently spicy red with a juicy consistency that is oh so very gluggable
  • One of the true Barossa icons, Grant Burge continue to produce great quality wines at stunning prices
  • 5 STAR James Halliday rated winery

Producers like Grant Burge realised that wine can be sophisticated, tasty, complex, great with food and yet still be down right affordable. And though we might miss tying the cask wine to a hills hoist and playing ‘Wheel Of Fort-goon’, we've learnt that there’s more to life than those simple times.

So when Burge approached us with this great Batch range of wines, we leapt up from our chairs to attention. Batch 28 is a selection of some of the best fruit from some of Burge’s long list of Barossa Valley grape growers.

The wines are intended to be shared with friends, drunk with great meals, all the while keeping the hip pocket happy. This Shiraz is a richly flavoured, gently spicy red with a juicy consistency that is oh so very gluggable. Dive in and enjoy.

And with Burgey being a good mate, he decided to let us at this great value wine at an even finer price. One hand helps the other. Without further ado, grab a hold of this freakishly good deal today.

A nice drop to drink with a steak, not their best shiraz. It has a nice after taste worth the price.

A mixed reaction not as I thought a bit rough after other burge vintages I've had before from the winery I give it 3

Easy to drink and quite enjoyable.

Would have been happier had the wine been delivered to my front door

rather than post office 20ks away!

Not an outstanding wine even given its relatively low price. Rather thin seems: to improve a little after opening but not a wine I would buy again. I think there is better value for money among the others listed.

"Cheap v Expensive"

This wine is a cracker. I only go by how drinkable it is, this wine to my taste is as good as any I can afford to purchase in a restaurant for about $40. That makes it an absolute bargain, and no one has ever guessed correctly the price you are selling it for.

"Arguably the best at this price"

The first case was drunk so quickly, had to buy another. Silly price for such a drinkable wine, it's as good as many that are triple the price.

I will not be drinking these for a couple of years as I have put them down.

As they are Grant Burge & over the years I have drunk a few of his different types & vintages I'm sure the wine will be sensational

"Grant Burge Batch 28 Shiraz"

Always a close-run thing between St Hallett's and Grant Burge for me. St Hallett's won out last time but after tasting this Shiraz with it's deliciously soft, mellow finish, revising my opinion again. Have to keep on trying them both; what a chore. My guests love the Burge too and when I tell them the price, especially when WineMarket have the $20 off storewide offer, they think it even more dash for cash. Everyone should have a carton of Grant Burge in their home.

Love your service !! Prices great too. The wine we have been receiving from you has not been disappointing, so I will be placing regular orders. We are huge fans of BYO restaurants, and the labels you send us are not reflective of the prices we are paying.......they are somewhat "boutique".

Having previously enjoyed GB's 2011 Shiraz I thought this may fall short of my expectations, however it is still up there on the drinkability stakes. Very happy and will buy again.

Whilst this is a very young wine it is great to be able to DRINK a glass of very affordable wine and thoroughly enjoy every drop. Well done Grant Burge for supplying to Winemarket a wine that has my rating of 3/5.
