The Newest Vintage Of Our Best Riesling!

Here you go ladies and gents, a spot-on example of beautifully-made Aussie Riesling. It's from a winemaker who's got the experience of more than 40 vintages under his belt, so you can be sure that Robin Day knows what he's doing.

The Bottom Line

  • Absolute customer favourite
  • 91 Points – James Halliday
  • From winemaker Robin Day, a master of more than 40 vintages
  • From Mt Crawford- the coolest corner of the Barossa Valley

From vines at the southern-most tip of the Barossa Valley, this fruit is grown cooler than anywhere else in the region - perfect for zesty concentration of flavours.

You can't argue with the kind of support that we've had from the WM faithful on this label. Both this and the much-loved 2011 vintage that we had until recently have flown out in droves of repeat orders. It seems to be one of the rare few labels that satisfies both "good enough for the boss" and "cheap enough for Tuesday" requirements.

It's the kind of cool, refreshing Riesling that does magical things with seafood or summer afternoons, but could also go for a spell maturing in your cellar; a pretty remarkable feat for a wine that will be yours for less than a tenner.

"Mt Crawford riesling"

Vintage: 2015

by
To date I have opened two bottles and at $8 a bottle I consider this a good wine at a very good price.

But, would I pay $22? No!

"Definitely One Serious Riesling!"

If you're after a top riesling that punches above it's weight - this is it! This is one of my go to wines which delivers incredible value for money. Impressive for it's price and a very enjoyable wine. Very characteristic of the Eden Valley region with beautiful clean minerality, laser sharp acidity and a clean finish. Very morrish...

Not often that you can pick up a nice reisling for under $10 - been indulging in spicy food since!

"Nice Riesling - definitely a bargain at the price"

This is my fave white for summer - can't get enough of it at this price. Amid a sea of Sauvignon Blancs it's awesome to find a wine that's just a little bit different. I love its fruity crispness with a hint of honey, just perfect for... well, almost anything summery really!

A little sharp on first taste but a nice summer drinking light wine.

For the price, this is a top drop. I'm loving the semi-Riesling characteristics with the almost honey-like undertones. If you're looking for something different, this is worth a go. I would definitely pay higher for this one but at this price I just keep going back for more.

"Not so serious"

Does not display a lot of riesling characteristics that can be found in major producers' products at around the same price. Just lacks "zing"!!!

Not as developed as the 2011, but a very decent drop without the excessive acid that is creeping into some well known brands. Well priced.

I thought it was thin and lacking Riesling character. Won't want any more .. :-) .. !!

Very dry definitely a food wine, better not too cold. Could do with a couple more years in cellar.

Quite enjoyed this Riesling. It is still fresh with an upfront taste but would age well if I could mange to leave a bottle or 2 for a while. Can't complain at this price!

"Big flavour, but"

This reisling has loads of fruit balanced with cleansing acidity. Very drinkable. But it set off allergies for both drinkers at my table, so it will be a one off.

"Domain Day Riesling 2015"

Vintage: 2015

by
This builds on the 2011, 2014 vintages. For a young Riesling it has excellent freshness, smooth and with balanced acidity. I would wager it would have potentially long life, developing colour and richness. Hard to wait for that. At the special price it deserves a 4 1/2 - 5

I have only opened two bottles to date but confirm this is a great Riesling at $99 a dozen but would not buy or recommend at $264. Went very well with pan fried salmon and potato bake.

"Good Wine"

Vintage: 2015

by
Pretty good riesling at the "special price" I don't know how they get a 2015 wine to taste like an aged riesling, but they do with this one. So I'm not sure if it will cellar for too long as with other rieslings I have ?? drink it cold, as when it gets a little warmer it has a furry mouth feel. Good food wine, with sea food or asian dishes...and I did buy a second case at the special price, but not worth $22 a bottle.

"High quality, value for money"

Vintage: 2014

This is an outstanding Riesling at the budget range. There is delicious oily riesling character, with touches of lemon and lime. There is enough acid to warrant a year or two of collaring, if you like your riesling a little "leaner".

"One serious risling"

Top wine. Maybe not as flinty as I'd like, but robust without being heavy, pleasant acidity. My family love it (unfortunately).
