"Chateau Haut Chevalier"

Was quite a pleasant drop. Not too heavy; not too light. I did hesitate having read some of the other reviews, but I was curious to try a Bordeaux and see how it compared. In some ways I wonder if it makes for a cheaper alternative to Pinot Noir. I would not want to pay more than I did for it, but definitely did not disappoint for the price.

"Exquisitely French"

A typical French red that can be enjoyed at any time. You would easily pay 9 euros for this in the country of origin.

"Our Candid View"

My wife and I are French--she by birth and me by naturalisation because France is my spiritual home where Australia (my country of birth) could never hope to be. It's a cultural thing. Good wines don't give my wife a headache. Most love-deprived (cheap) wines do, so we avoid them, despite our underprivileged circumstances. Chateau Haut Chevalier wasn't expensive, for a Bordeaux--la crème de la crème--yet it was pleasing to my wife's taste (and mine, d'ailleurs--d'ailleurs means 'besides') and got the thumbs up. At ten dollars for this bottle, we've got it made. But please, don't tell anybody we thought it was good stuff. We don't want others muscling in on the deal. Mum's word. Okay? (Merci beaucoup).

Enjoyable and good value. Purchased because it was something different and French, as a change from our Australian wines. Not disappointed.

"Bordeaux Red"

Starts off well before it has had a chance to breathe. After that it looses intensity and has no outstanding taste. It's supposed to be the other way around. I think it has potential but I will not try another bottle for a year to find out if it really does. Not recommended for short term drinking.
