Imported Red From Puglia: Home Of Italian Value!

Not only are the wines coming out of this Italian region super good value; they’re also steeped in history. Negroamaro has been grown in Puglia for about 2,500 years, so it’s easy to picture a coupla Romans, with their sandals up on the table, sipping this bad boy from their goblets.

Okay, so, two thousand years later and we can confidently say that the wine has definitely improved. Taste for yourself.

The Bottom Line

  • Negroamaro from the best Italian region for it
  • Imported and exotic - now for less!
  • Gorgeous, full-bodied and structured

It’s deep, dark, rustic Red - an earthy, perfumed little number with the classic regional "edge" — similar to a Primitivo or Zinfandel if you've tried 'em... Pair with a mid-week Pizza.

Smooth, unusual with some enticing bitterness and sweet finish. Great drop for something different...and different it is...

Negroamaro translates from Italian as Bitter Black - I have tried three bottles of this so far and find it a little "thin" for my taste, however I will persevere and cellar them for another 1-3 years to see if there is an improvement in the body of the wine. Friends have commented similarly but agree as such a young wine there may be an improvement with cellaring.

One can only trust in time. 3 and one half stars at present.

Have only tried one bottle of this wine so far. Found it to be very pleasant when first opened, flavour had improved when we finished it off the next day. A lighter wine than we usually drink, overall - no complaints, a very nice wine.

I had never heard of the grape, but I won't forget it. A great balanced wine, lots of berries with a hint of vanilla. A cross between a Merlot and a Malbec. Worth at least double the price I paid. I will get some more.

Not often I'm disappointed but this one didn't deliver. From the Heel of Italy but I think I'll give it the Boot! No "General de Gaul" nose here or mouth feel. Australia does it better. Back to the Barossa or McLaren Vale for me (not to mention Langhorne Creek). Ah well, can't win every time!
