WA Cab Merlot From Future Superstars

A lot of the best, brightest, highest-rated, longest-lived Red Blends in the country come out this corner of Southern WA, and a lot of them taste a lot like this. But you won't get any of them for anything like this kind of purse. Call it classic Bordeaux-style, call it ultra-modern Aussie cool climate mastery, just call it a damn good Cab Merlot. Then drink it.

The Bottom Line

  • Last cases - once they're gone, they're GONE
  • A West Coast gem (and it'll cellar, too!)
  • From one of James Halliday’s “Top 10 New Wineries” last year!

These guys seriously know what they’re doing. Between the wine biz experience of the namesakes Paul Byron and Ralph (Harold) Dunning, and the vine and wine-wrangling of their co-conspirators, this is an outfit that that we reckon might be knocking on the door of “Winery of The Year” status somewhere down the track… Get in while the going’s good and the prices don’t include too much of a “famous” tax!

Want the full B&H treatment? We’ve got the two brother Reds as well – check out the Shiraz HERE or the Merlot HERE!

As any good W.A. Cab Merlot should be this is fruit driven light but not too light and very quaffable

"Poor wine"

The other reviews of this wine are mysterious. It would seem they have consumed a different wine. I would prefer a cheap cask than this wine. It is very disappointing. I thought maybe it was one off bottle, but I purchased a box and several bottles so far have all been the same. It's hard to describe the off taste, but it's not just me. A few of my friends agreed that this wine does not go down well.

"B & H Cab Merlot 2013"

This is a great wine, regardless of the price. It's SMOOOOOOTH. Plenty of flavour up front, and did I mention that it's smooth? A lovely finish on the back palete, and it's smooth. My friends have been really impressed with this wine, and some of them are very particular about their wine, but more than once I've heard them refer to it as "smooth". So there you have it. This Byron and Harold is tasty, complimentary to so many foods and, well, it's just really smooth!

I bought this wine to put down but was tempted to have a taste and it was really good, lots of berries and cherries and don't think it will last till 2020, worth a try!l
